POCKET DOORS / DOOR KITS

Pocket doors are an often overlooked design option when planning a room. Pocket doors are a great way to save floor and wall space while still offering privacy. McCray Lumber and Millwork offers all styles of stock and custom pocket doors.

Pocket Doors

Pocket doors are doors that slide into a compartment in an adjacent wall, effectively disappearing when open. Pocket doors offer a clean, opened look and leave wall space unobscured when opened while still offering privacy when closed. Perhaps the greatest advantage of pocket doors is that they can save an average of 10 square feet of floor space that would be required to accommodate swing space for hinged doors.

McCray Lumber and Millwork carries a wide selection of pocket doors, including both single and double pocket doors. McCray Lumber and Millwork offers all styles of pocket doors to complement any room décor, including plank, panel, glass, and arched. Pocket doors can be used on any type of doorway or anyplace where you want the ability to close off one area from another without taking up floor space. Exterior pocket doors can be used to offer access to patios.

Pocket doors originally gained popularity in the late 1800s and early 1900s. After disappearing from architectural styles for a while, they have made a comeback in recent years with improved designs that are quieter and easier to operate than previous pocket doors. Newer tracks reduce the likelihood of the pocket door coming off the tracks as older designs were prone to do. While it is easiest to install pocket doors during construction, with a little effort it is possible to install them in some existing walls.

In addition to stock and custom pocket doors, McCray Lumber and Millwork also sells pocket door kits, pocket door frames, and all the pocket door hardware necessary for installation. All of our pocket doors and frames are available in both prefinished and unfinished, making it simple to get exactly what you need.
